HISTORY OF THE SCHOOL

With an intelligent foresight, Mr. Mauro E. Balundo, a retired public school teacher of San Jose Elementary School, San Jose, Talibon, Bohol, initiated the preparation of all the official papers for the establishment of San Jose Barangay High School. The then Municipal Kagawad Gaudencio E. Artiaga with same vision personally submitted all the official documents to the Department of Education, Manila for the opening of the school. With his great efforts, linkages, and constant follow-ups to the higher authorities of the Department of Education, luckily, the school was established in June, 1972.

During the first year operation of the school, there was only one full time high school teacher with 65 students; some elementary teachers including Mr. Mauro E. Balundo were just asked to handle other subjects. It was headed by the Elementary School Principal, the late Jesus M. Evangelista. At a later time of its operation, the PTCA building was constructed in the school site, which was donated by Mr. Julio E. Pongan.

The people of barangay San Jose through the then Brgy. Captain Leoncio Auxtero were desirous to have a Barangay High School in San Jose for their children’s access and comfort in studying high school.

At that time, there was only one (1) private high school in Talibon run by AR sisters with very high tuition fees.

Numerous students from other barangays in the municipality had to enroll in San Jose High School, being the first barangay high school established in the town so that they could save amount for their tuition fees because the school had a minimal fees as compared to private high schools.
